How do you feel about pricing art?

Do artists have the right to charge money for their work? If yes, how much? If no, why not?

On one hand we have the stereotypical struggling artist (Van Gogh); on the other we have the stereotypical extravagant artisté (Damien Hirst).

In a world where we should be trying to create value as a species, do you believe that art creates enough value to offset the natural resources depleted to produce it? Do you believe that art creates enough value to cost six-figure amounts?

  1. safetypin answered: I think artists must charge money for their work. That, however, doesn’t mean the worth demanded is equal to the value of the work. Will FB.
